Firearms at the shop

Firearms are bought, sold and traded in person at the shop, never online. A firearm left for work goes back only to the person who brought it in.

1. The short version

Nothing changes hands on this website. Firearms are bought, sold and traded in person, at the shop in Boerne. A firearm you buy here is handed over at the counter after you complete the federal form (ATF Form 4473) and a background check. A firearm you leave for work is logged as federal law requires and goes back only to you, with ID.

  1. A request.

Say what you’re after, or what you have. Philip replies by email.

  2. At the shop.

Look it over in person, or bring yours in at a time agreed, unloaded and cased.

  3. Across the counter.

A firearm you buy is handed over after the federal form and a background check.

From a request, to the counter in Boerne. Never online.

2. Bringing a firearm in for work

Start with a request. Bring the firearm only once a time has been agreed, inside shop hours, unloaded and cased, with a government ID. It is logged in as federal law requires, and existing wear is noted at check-in, so there are no surprises on either side. The one exception to unloaded is a live round stuck in the chamber: write before you bring it, so we know it is coming and can tell you how.

3. Sending a firearm in for work

Email first. The carriers have their own rules about who may ship a firearm, and the right way depends on what it is and where you are. Please don’t send anything until the shop has replied.

4. Collecting it

A firearm goes back only to the person who brought it in, with ID. Anyone else must complete the federal form and a background check before it can be handed to them. Pickup and storage are in the service terms.

5. Buying, selling and trading

Start with a request and say what you’re after, or what you have. Philip will reply by email. If you’re selling or trading, bring the firearm in at a time agreed, unloaded and cased, with a government ID. It is looked over in person before anything is agreed.

If you’re buying, look the firearm over at the counter before you complete the federal form. Once it has been transferred to you, it can’t be returned to the shop. A firearm is never shipped to a buyer, and nothing on this website holds or reserves one.

6. Age and eligibility

To buy a firearm you must be the actual buyer and not prohibited from receiving one. Rifles and shotguns: 18 or older. Handguns, frames and receivers: 21 or older. The legal check is the one done in person, at the counter. Nothing on this website approves anyone to receive a firearm.

7. Your state and local law

Some firearms and features are restricted in some places. It’s your responsibility to know the law where you live. Every transfer at the shop follows federal and Texas law.

8. The shop’s discretion

GunTex may decline any sale, trade or job, for any lawful reason.
